How long does it take to complete the bachelor’s degree in Computer Science?

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree is 180 credits.  Freshmen typically take 4-years to complete the 180 credits.  Transfer students typically take 2-years to complete the degree requirements.

If I am not admitted the first time… can I reapply?

The Department of Computer Science offers admissions once a year in Fall quarter only.  Student may reapply the following year for consideration if not admitted.

How many student are admitted each year?

In past years, the department admitted 24-72 new students and plans to increase enrollment as additional funding, resources and space is allocated to grow the program.

Can I register for 300-400 level Computer Science classes?

No, only students admitted into the Computer Science major have permission to register for 300-400 level courses.

Can I take 300 and above courses online? 

No, only students admitted into the Computer Science major have permission to register for 300-400 level courses.  This program is not offered online.

What programming language is used in the Fundamental of Computer Science classes?

Java is used in CS 210 and CS 211.

Do I need my own computer? 

All students admitted into the Computer Science major must own a personal laptop computer for their studies.  Laptop requirements

Where do I go for academic advising?

Students are assigned a faculty advisor once admitted into the program. Students meet once a quarter with their faculty advisor for educational planning and career advice.
