Congratulations to Jonathan, the HSEWI Writing Specialist, on becoming the new Interim Director of the Academic Success Center. This is a great opportunity for him, but we are sad to see him go. As many of you already know, Jonathan has been assisting students with their writing and academic needs for the last two years and has helped integrate more effective writing components into our courses. He will be missed! In his absence, we recommend students take advantage of the following resources for writing and academic support:
The HSEWI Writing Center
Jonathan developed the HSEWI Writing Center as a one-stop place for HCI students to access information on: APA/AMA format, grammar, research strategies, and reading and writing techniques. There you can find lessons, videos, tutorials, and templates to help you with your writing needs. Please continue to utilize this site!
The Academic Success Center and Writing Lab
The Academic Success Center (located in D 204) offers drop-in and appointment-based tutoring for English, writing, and lots of other subjects. The Center also has a Writing Lab, which caters specifically to student writing and is open daily from 10 am – 2 pm. If you can’t make it to the Writing Lab, you can get writing support during the Center’s general hours, which are:
- Monday – Thursday: 8 am – 8 pm
- Friday: 8 am – 3:30 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 11 am – 4 pm
For those who can’t make it to campus, the Academic Success Center offers virtual eTutoring for remote and online-only students. Also, check out their writing and reading Workshops to see if there’s a workshop that works for you!
