Professor Hanson-Maier (he/him/his) is a spatial epidemiologist with nearly a decade of experience in public health, specializing in injury and violence prevention, mental health, chronic disease, environmental health, and the built environment. In his current role, he focuses on developing mapping and geospatial data products to support various public health initiatives and collaborates with community leaders to address health equity and disparities across Snohomish County. He worked for the CDC Foundation throughout the COVID-19 pandemic before serving as a subject matter expert at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network. He also holds a 2-year appointment as a subject matter expert in injury and violence prevention and substance use at the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). He has also worked in the non-profit space as a program manager for an organization dedicated to reducing firearm injury and violence. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, and everything in between with his wife and two children… (okay, they’re dogs).
