The Health Promotion and Education program at Bellevue College offers an industry-relevant bachelors degree that will prepare students to work proactively in prevention of chronic disease within the wider community. Admission to the program is competitive. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as the number of qualified applicants may exceed the number of available enrollment spaces. Information Sessions
All prospective students are encouraged to attend at least one information session or meet with a program advisor to learn more about prerequisite courses, application process and other program details. Application Steps
If you are a first time BC student or a previous BC student who is returning to the college after four or more quarters, you must apply to the college first. Current BC students may skip Step 1 and start at Step 2.
- Visit the Washington State Community and Technical College Web Admissions Center. Follow the Quick Start Instructions provided on the site. Make sure to complete the application process by clicking on the Submit Button located at the bottom of the college listing of choices.
- Allow 1-3 business days for the Welcome Center to process your application. We send you a Welcome Letter email with instructions for your next steps.
- The college places a $66 admission/placement fee on your account at the time we process your application. You pay this fee at the time you pay your first quarter tuition. Once paid, the fee is non-refundable.

Transferring credits from other colleges – For any college coursework taken outside of Bellevue College, you will need to submit official college transcripts to our enrollment services department AND complete a transfer credit request form. It’s important to do both of these steps. Your transcript will not be reviewed by our evaluations department until the credit review request form is complete.

This process may take a several weeks to have your transcripts sent over and reviewed. Please give yourself at least 3-4 weeks to complete this process if at all possible.
Math and English Assessment – Submit unofficial high school or college transcripts to testing@bellevuecollege.edu OR take the Math & English placement tests if you need to clear a prerequisite for a course. This is common if students need to take ENGL 201 or MATH 130 and have not completed ENGL& 101 or MATH 98 at Bellevue College. More information….
Please have the following items ready for submission with your Health Promotion & Education Bachelors of Applied Science application. We have revised the requirements to make applying easier.
- Unofficial transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges attended demonstrating completion of the prerequisite courses with a grade point average of 2.0 or better.
- Personal Essay (no more than 500 words) Describe an experience (volunteer or paid) that contributed to your interest in the field of health and wellness. NEW! You can request an interview with our Program Chair if you prefer to talk instead of write.
- Diversity Statement (min 1 pg., max 2 pgs.) Please provide specific examples of how your educational and/or professional experiences, demonstrate your commitment to diversity and equity. NEW! You can request an interview with our Program Chair if you prefer to talk instead of write.
- Volunteer/Community Service (optional): If you have volunteer or community service, it is helpful to have the following information ready to submit in your application: Organization name, position title, total hours worked, duties/tasks, start and end date worked.
- Application payment will be accepted at the time of completion. Please have your form of payment prior to beginning the application. The application fee is $50.
The Health Promotion and Education program uses an external service called Common App to manage all program applicants. You will need to create a Common App username and log-in. And once our application opens in April, you will be able to select it on the Common App website to start completing the application. The directions are on the first page of the application itself.
Please have all supporting documents prepared prior to completing your application. The application will only be visible once the application is live on April 15. The application fee for the Health Promotion and Education Bachelors of Applied Science concentration application fee is $50. Please save your confirmation email as proof that your application has been successfully completed.
General Orientation – If you are a new student to Bellevue College complete the New Student Intake form and the BC New Student Orientation. This orientation will go over general information including how to register classes, resources on campus, and a virtual tour.
Health Promotion and Education Application Decision – You will be notified by our program via email when a decision has been made about your application. It may take us several weeks to review your application but we will review applications submitted by the priority deadline first. After we complete our review, you will then be given further instructions and information on the next steps to take.
Meeting with Program Manager – We recommend admitted students who accept their seats in the program meet virtually with the program manager to go over an education plan and the courses taken in the first quarter of the program.
Health Promotion and Education Orientation – Once you have been admitted you will be invited to attend a new student orientation for our program. The orientation will be held in-person in early September. All admitted students will be contacted and given additional details. This orientation will be a way for you to connect early on with your peers, faculty, staff, and learn more about what to expect in your next few years in our program.
International Students
If you are an International student, please reach out to the International Education and Global Initiatives Office. They will have you meet with one of their advisors to help guide you through the rules and requirements for International students to attend Bellevue College.
