Virtual Seattle Black History Tour

On behalf of the Black Employees of Bellevue College (BEOBC), The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and the Black Student Union, we invite you to attend a virtual event that celebrates the African American history of Seattle. Mark your calendars for the Virtual Seattle Black History Tour with the Dr. Paul Jackson, taking place on Thursday, June 15, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Event Details

The event occurred during Spring, 2023.

Format

The workshop will be conducted online via Zoom. The proceedings will also be recorded for those unable to participate in real time.

Prepare to be enthralled as Dr. Jackson leads us on an immersive journey through the notable locations that have shaped the African American narrative in Seattle. Using the capabilities of Google Earth maps, Dr. Jackson will utilize panoramic 360-degree pictures and bird-eye view visuals to tell his stories. The Google Earth platform is accessible on the web.

Dr. Paul Jackson has a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, specializing in virtual reality technology. His distinguished career includes notable contributions to the field while working at Boeing, where he developed virtual reality applications and simulations. Dr. Jackson has also documented numerous Black community events in the Seattle area, as well as shedding light on vital social justice issues.

Dr. Jackson’s long-term passion for Seattle’s Black history is deeply rooted in his extensive experience working in web-based media. He has dedicated his time to volunteer work with MMRTI, a digital video studio run by the Ethiopian community.
