For many students, it makes sense to come to us to get a great education as well as save significant tuition dollars in their first two years of college. We are experienced in getting students admitted to the top business schools in the country but we pride ourselves in being a space where our students find the right path–even if it is not a business school. Whatever type of student you are – New, Returning, International, or Running Start – we have found that some things are common to everyone’s experience:
- The Business Transfer Program an inexpensive and accessible way to start your path to an AACSB-accredited business school. Only 5% of all business schools in the world are AACSB accredited.
- You can save tuition dollars by completing the first two years with us. We are less than 50% of the cost of attending a university.
- Our grads have gone on to transfer to some prestigious business schools and universities.
- We offer many events and activities that allow students to explore many facets of business and to network with each other.
- We put students in contact with diverse executives of large companies and entrepreneurs of startup enterprises.
- Classes are smaller than at universities and students have more opportunities to interact with faculty and each other.
- We call on our graduates who work at Microsoft, T-Mobile, Amazon, Starbucks, Boeing, Big 4 accounting, or who have started their own businesses like Kizuki Ramen and Izakaya, to interact with you so you can learn from their experiences.
What Courses Should I Take?
The Sequence
We’ve developed a suggested sequence of courses to take for the Associate in Business to complete in two years. If you plan to attend part-time, the sequence is the same but you will do it over a longer period of time. This sequence is based on our research of how students can get the highest GPA. All business schools are selective in that you have to apply to get in. Some only take a portion of the applicants so having the best GPA can help.
Running Start students may have a slightly different sequence, depending on their high school curriculum.
English and Math
If you placed in an English level that is lower than ENGL& 101 or a math level that is lower than MATH 138, your course sequence will be changed. Remember that both English and Math can be practiced before you assess and students have moved up levels by practicing. Taking the prerequisite class is not always a hindrance. It can help you polish your skills and gain confidence. No one is born with these skill sets. They gain them through practice.
- Strong reading and writing skills are required in business classes so taking English first is a must.
- It makes sense to take math courses in sequence because you will remember concepts.
- You will do better in accounting and statistics if you complete math first.
We also recommend that you join the Business Leadership Club as they have a number of events each year to remind you of the application process. They provide sessions on personal statements and the writing assessment for UW Foster.

BA 241: Multicultural Business Consulting – 5 credits
Through the multicultural consulting course, students are able to get real-life experience with emerging businesses under the guidance of experienced faculty and mentors from the Rotary Club. This course was created in conjunction with the University of Washington Foster School Consulting and Business Development Center. In its first 25 years, the CBDC has helped small businesses in Washington add more than $250 million in new revenues while creating and retaining more than 200,000 jobs through its renown student consulting program.
Along with professors at the UW Foster and Arizona State, Professor Leslie Lum wrote the curriculum (Business Consulting in a Multicultural America) used in Management 445, the student consulting course at UW Foster. Using the same model, students at Bellevue College along with their Bellevue Rotary mentors have consulted with over 60 underserved businesses and nonprofits to provide $500,000 in consulting expertise. The course won a national award for service learning from the Community College National Center for Community Engagement.
New Students
Students who just completed high school find the Business Transfer Program an inexpensive and accessible way to start business school. We offer events and activities that allow students to explore many facets of business. We put students in contact with executives of large companies and entrepreneurs of emerging enterprises. Classes are smaller than at universities and students have more opportunities to interact with faculty and each other.
Returning Students
Returning students may have started college before or taken a few years off to work. These students may have families to support and often continue to work full-time while studying. We understand the anxiety when you have to recover learning from years ago. We understand the stressor in balancing work/life/school. We provide support through advising and our own Business tutoring center to eliminate gaps in learning. If it’s been a while since you’ve been to school, it would be good to get an assessment of where you are in Math and English.
International Students
The Business Transfer program has the largest enrollment of international students of any major in the college.
Because many of the Business Transfer faculty attended universities throughout the country, we know how to provide support in advising and mentoring hundreds of international students for admission into elite institutions including USC, Georgetown, Cornell, Columbia, UCLA and more. Our international alumni subsequently return to their home countries and run family businesses or hold important positions in South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan.
