DMA 203 – Motion Graphic Fundamentals

Description

Opening title sequences for shows and movies, commercials and product marketing, animated  logos and even special effects! What do they have in common? They’re all Motion Graphics. Just imagine graphic design…animated! With social distancing and remote offices, companies are using Motion Graphic animation more and more to promote their products in fun and creative ways. Allowing them to illustrate complex ideas visually and appeal to a wide range of viewers.  In this class, you will be introduced to the software, theories and techniques used to create motion graphics. Finishing the class with all the fundamental tools needed to start making motion graphics of your very own.

Outcomes

After completing this class, students should be able to:

  • Have an understanding of Adobe After Effects.
  • Know how to incorporate Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator art into their motion graphics.
  • Manage, store and retrieve a wide range of visual assets within After Effects.
  • Know the difference between motion graphic animation and traditional animation.
  • Apply motion and narrative to the principles of good graphic design.
  • Create kinetic typography and simple screen design to create effective motion graphics.
  • Incorporate soundtracks into their motion graphics.
  • Generate concepts from scratch that illustrate complex ideas in visual and creative ways.
