Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is an all-in-one collaboration platform that combines chat, video meetings, file sharing, and task management into a unified workspace. For educators, it excels in creating class teams with channels for assignments, announcements, and discussions, plus integration with Office 365 tools like Word and OneNote.

What You Can Do With It

Bellevue College faculty leverage Teams to build connected learning communities, streamlining communication beyond email. It’s especially effective for project-based courses needing ongoing group work.

Streamline Communication with Your Students

Use Teams as a central hub for class announcements, discussions, and quick check-ins.

  • Post announcements to keep everyone informed in real time
  • Chat with individuals, groups, or your whole class
  • Share files, links, and resources in one organized place

Host Virtual Meetings and Office Hours

Hold live class sessions, review sessions, or drop-in office hours directly through Teams.

  • Schedule and hold video meetings with automatic calendar integration
  • Use screen sharing, whiteboards, and live captions
  • Record sessions for students who cannot attend

Collaborate on Course Materials

Work together on documents, presentations, and projects using built-in Microsoft 365 tools.

  • Co-edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files in real time
  • Organize materials in channel folders for easy access
  • Use shared notebooks to centralize instructions, resources, or brainstorming

Support Group Work and Collaborative Learning

Use Teams to help students work together more effectively on projects and discussions.

  • Create channels for group projects or study teams
  • Allow students to collaborate on shared documents and presentations
  • Facilitate ongoing discussion with chat, posts, and file sharing

Access Teams through the Microsoft 365 portal at office.com, or via the desktop/web app. In Canvas, integrate it using the Microsoft Teams LTI for direct linking to course-specific teams. Log in with your BC email for full access.
