Clear, Consistent, and Accessible

Faculty can use the syllabus templates to create a clear, consistent, accessible, and student-friendly syllabus that aligns with institutional requirements and best practices. Faculty have the option to choose the Syllabus Template in Word or import the Cidi Labs Syllabus Templates from within Canvas. The templates provide a structured format for communicating course expectations, policies, learning outcomes, and key resources to students. They also help ensure that syllabi are organized and ready to be shared with division offices. Using the BC templates saves time while promoting consistency and accessibility across courses.

Syllabus Template Options

To download the Syllabus Template, select Access the Syllabus Documents button below.  When prompted, sign in to the Bellevue College SharePoint site using your BC credentials. Download the appropriate syllabus template (Print or Online Sharing) from the last two documents in the SharePoint folder. After downloading, open the file from your Downloads folder, replace all instructional text (in square brackets and in italics), and delete the first two pages of instructions before sharing. Be sure to run the Word Accessibility Checker to ensure that your syllabus is accessible.

Follow the instructions in the document Using the Cidi Labs Syllabus Templates to insert and customize a Cidi Labs syllabus template within Canvas. 

Important Tips

Keep Your Syllabus Up-To-Date

The syllabus templates are updated before the end of Spring Quarter each year, and it is a good idea to check for changes in the BC Syllabus Updates and Changes Log and update your syllabus during the Summer Quarter or before the start of Fall Quarter.

Ensure Your Syllabus is Accessible

Use the Word Accessibility Checker and/or the Cidi Labs Accessibility Checker to ensure that your syllabus is fully accessible before sharing it with your students and division.
