Get Students Started on Track

The Getting Started Module is an entry point for students in the course, whether hybrid or online. The Interactive eLearning department has developed a Getting Started Module template for Canvas courses. This template contains placeholders for course-specific information that you, the instructor, can easily change and modify to include your information. The Getting Started Module helps students get acquainted with the course syllabus, assignment and reading guidelines, instructor information, student expectations, and other essential information at the start of your course(s).

How to Get It

Adding the Module to Your Course

Access the Canvas Public Course where this module is published. Choose either the “single page” or “multiple page” option. Use the “Send to…” or “Copy to…” option (select the three dots in the upper right corner of the module) to send yourself the module or copy it directly into your chose course.

Access the Getting Started Public Course

You can also download the module from Canvas Commons. Log in to Canvas and locate Canvas Commons on the left navigation. Search for Getting Started Public Course and then download the module in your Sandbox or any other Canvas course.
