Gradescope

Gradescope is an assessment platform that automates grading for exams, homework, and coding assignments. It supports diverse formats like handwritten scans and integrates with Canvas for seamless import/export. Faculty gain time savings and consistent feedback, while students get detailed analytics on their performance.

What You Can Do With It

Whether you teach online or on-ground, Gradescope saves you time, gives you a clear picture of how your students are doing, and provides them with rich feedback and review opportunities.

Grade Any Type of Assignment

Gradescope support variable-length assignments (problem sets and larger projects) as well as fixed-template assignments such as worksheets, quizzes, bubble sheets, and exams.

Streamline Grading and Feedback

Gradescope allows instructors to give detailed feedback while maintaining consistency. Send grades to students with one click or export them to your Canvas gradebook.

Deploy Flexible "One-Click" Rubrics

Gradescope rubrics allow you to apply detailed feedback with just one click. Rubric changes apply to previously graded work, saving you tons of time and helping you maintain consistency in your assessments.

Gain Valuable Insights

View question- and rubric-level statistics to better understand your students’ comprehension. Easily export grades and data.

Leverage AI-Assisted Grading

Grade groups of similar answers all at once. For some questions types, Gradescope AI automatically creates groups for you to review.

Gradescope is already integrated into Canvas. You simply need to enable it in Settings > Navigation > Gradescope > Enable > Save and it will appear in the course navigation. Once you select it from the course navigation, you will be taken to the Gradescope dashboard where you can add students or staff to your course and start creating assignments.
