Honorlock

Honorlock is a proctoring solution that uses AI and live monitoring to secure online exams without invasive setups. It integrates with Canvas to verify identities via webcam, flag suspicious behaviors like multiple faces, and record sessions for review. Features include lockdown browsers and automated grading, balancing security with a low-stress experience for students.

What You Can Do With It

Bellevue College faculty use Honorlock to confidently deliver high-stakes assessments remotely, maintaining fairness while respecting student privacy.

Ensure Secure Online Exams

Honorlock helps you maintain exam integrity in fully online or hybrid courses with minimal setup.

  • Detects suspicious behavior using AI and real-time monitoring
  • Locks down browser activity to prevent searching or switching tabs
  • Records exam sessions for post-review and documentation

Verify Student ID Seamlessly

Built-in identity checks confirm that the right student is taking the exam without adding extra steps.

  • Uses webcam ID verification before the exam begins
  • Flags situations like multiple faces or missing examinees
  • Creates an auditable record of identity verification

Support Academic Integrity With Flexibility

Faculty can tailor proctoring settings to match course needs while supporting equitable access.

  • Choose which behaviors to monitor or ignore
  • Allow specific websites, tools, or accommodations
  • Reduce student anxiety with transparent, customizable rules

Streamline Assessment Review

Honorlock simplifies post-exam evaluation so instructors can focus on teaching, not policing.

  • Provides time-stamped incident reports for quick review
  • Highlights only meaningful integrity concerns
  • Integrates grade pass-back with Canvas for efficient workflow

To enable Honorlock in your Canvas course, start by opening the course that contains the exam you want to proctor. From the left-hand menu, select Settings and then the Navigation tab. Locate Honorlock in the list of available tools—scrolling if needed—and use the three-dot menu to choose Enable. After saving your changes at the bottom of the page, Honorlock will appear in your course navigation. Select it, authorize yourself if prompted, and you’ll see a list of all Canvas Quizzes in the course. From there, simply select Enable next to any quiz you want to secure with Honorlock proctoring.
