Kortext

Kortext is a digital textbook platform offering interactive e-books with multimedia enhancements, annotations, and accessibility tools. It integrates with Canvas for single sign-on and analytics, allowing faculty to assign readings with embedded quizzes and track engagement. Students benefit from offline access and personalized highlights, making complex texts more approachable.

What Can You Do With It?

Kortext gives Bellevue College faculty a flexible way to deliver digital course materials, streamline access for students, and support learning with built-in study tools.

Track Reading Activity and Engagement

Use analytics to understand how students interact with course materials.

  • View reading progress and usage trends
  • Identify students who may need extra support
  • Use data to adjust instruction or clarify difficult sections

Provide Easy Access to Course Texts

Give students instant access to required e-texts and readings directly within Canvas.

  • Integrates with Canvas for one-click access
  • Supports offline reading on multiple devices
  • Ensures all students have the same edition and materials

Create Interactive Reading Experiences

Enhance engagement with digital tools that help students study more effectively.

  • Highlight, annotate, and bookmark key sections
  • Share notes or comments with students or groups
  • Enable embedded media and interactive content where available

Build and Manage Custom Reading Lists

Curate course materials that match your learning goals and update them anytime.

  • Add textbook chapters, articles, and open resources
  • Organize items by week, topic, or module
  • Easily update or swap materials without re-uploading files

To access Kortext in Canvas, first open the course where you want to use the tool. A new My Materials link will appear in the Canvas Global Navigation, giving you direct access to all eBooks provided through Kortext or Brytewave—no setup required. Digital courseware will continue to be delivered separately through Willo or other publisher-specific LTIs.

For mobile access, some additional setup is required at the course level. To ensure students can see the My Materials link in the Canvas mobile app, you’ll need to manually enable it in each course by going to Course Settings → Navigation → Enable “My Materials” → Save. Students can also download the Kortext mobile app to access all their digital textbooks in one place, including when they are offline.
