Cidi Labs Universal Design Online Inspection Tool (UDOIT, pronounced “You do it”) is a Canvas course accessibility assistant that automatically scans your course to find accessibility issues that could cause trouble for your students. It checks things like image alt text, heading structure, link clarity, and more. It then gives you easy options to fix them right in Canvas. It’s like spellcheck for accessibility, helping ensure your course materials are usable by all students, including those using assistive technology.
UDOIT scans your course in seconds and flags common accessibility issues like missing alt text or broken headings before they cause problems for students.
No need to leave Canvas or open a new tool. UDOIT lets you preview and fix many issues directly from the UFIXIT screen.
Accessible content supports learners using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or alternative formats and benefits everyone.
UDOIT doesn’t just fix, it teaches. You’ll start to spot and prevent issues before they happen.
You can find UDOIT in the navigation menu of your Canvas course. If it’s not there, go to your Settings > Navigation, then drag UDOIT into the visible menu and click Save.
Only users with a Teacher or Administrator role see the UDOIT link in your course navigation.
Once added, just click the UDOIT tab in your course and run a scan. In a few seconds, you’ll see a report of what’s working and what needs attention.
