The English Language Institute (ELI) offers its students a chance to learn and grow in their understanding of English, as well as the dynamic lifestyle and culture of the Pacific Northwest. Teachers challenge and encourage their students to succeed in a well-rounded academic program. Courses are also provided for professionals or residents seeking to continue their study of language and technology. The International Business Professions (IBP) program is a full-time, one year college-level professional development program. IBP is a great program for university students and working professionals to improve their overall English ability and business or other academic or career skills (computer software, public speaking, program management, and industry specific subjects). This program offers classes in English to non-native speakers in the local community. People from a variety of backgrounds choose to study in our Community Program: Au Pairs, immigrants, L-2 visa holders, H-4 visa holders, permanent residents, and students on F-1 visas. Each class has a short description but is unique from quarter to quarter. The classes are designed to provide instruction in a particular skill (grammar, conversation, vocabulary, etc.) but students and teachers work together to shape the class to meet the needs, interests, and levels of the majority.
