Dr. Aseel Kanakri is an Assistant Professor in the English Department at Bellevue College, where she also serves as Pre-College Composition Co-coordinator. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, and raised in Jordan, she brings a multicultural perspective to her teaching. Aseel holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction-TESOL) from Kent State University, along with master’s degrees in English Composition from the University of Akron and Linguistics from Yarmouk University in Jordan.
She has been with Bellevue College since 2017, teaching developmental and college-level composition courses across multiple modalities to serve the college’s diverse student population. Aseel is committed to equity-based, student-centered teaching and incorporates best practices such as Universal Design for Instruction, Culturally Responsive practices, and Reading Apprenticeship into her curriculum. When not teaching, Aseel enjoys spending time with her three daughters and exploring the outdoors through hiking and travel.
