My academic training is a mix of the social sciences, statistics, and rhetoric.  I hope to impress upon my students the importance of writing skills and the usefulness of thinking  critically and analyzing the world around them.   Since I am realistic about the fact that some among us would rather have a tooth pulled than write assignments every day. I do everything I can to make my classes interesting, dynamic, relevant, and- yes- fun.

I am a huge proponent of the Humanities, so I speak and write constantly about how crucial a component this body of knowledge is to the success of our education system. Studying in the Humanities prepares people to be leaders and to make meaningful contributions to the world, no matter what their professions.
