Chiemi Ma was born in Tokyo, Japan and has resided and traveled across Asia, Europe and North America. Professor Ma’s extensive teaching experience includes positions teaching U.S. History and World History at North Seattle, Highline, and Casacadia community colleges in Washington state as well as Humanities & Western Civilization and Comparative Religions at West Hills Community College District in Coalinga and Lemoore, California. Professor Ma received her M.A. from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Originally trained as a classical pianist, she has combined her experiences in the performing arts and living abroad to take a cross-disciplinary approach to teaching history in traditional classroom, hybrid, and online environments.
