Effectiveness, Research & Analytics at Bellevue College

Mission | Our mission is to make decisions grounded in evidence, combining both numbers and personal experiences to gain a comprehensive understanding. We prioritize equity and context in all our actions. We champion the use of data and creative problem-solving to support student success.

Vision | We envision ourselves as essential collaborators in strategic thinking across Bellevue College, while also serving as influential leaders in shaping ideas locally and nationally. To guide planning efforts, we examine institutional and external trends. We bring in diverse perspectives from within the college and the wider community to ensure decisions are inclusive and well-informed. We’re agents of positive change, pushing Bellevue College towards a future where evidence and data guide our decisions.

Values | We focus our work on the principle that we are a people-centered organization that believes in the value of higher education and life-long learning, and place our students, faculty, and staff at the core of all that we do.

  • We demonstrate the value of Diversity by providing data which is disaggregated across multiple demographic categories, by advocating for more meaningful and representative options when collecting demographic data, and by evaluating the demographic composition of our campus community relative to the communities the college serves.
  • We demonstrate the value of Equity by evaluating Bellevue College’s efforts to serve our diverse communities, identifying and holding the college accountable for equity gaps, and contributing to initiatives which seek to close those gaps.
  • We demonstrate the value of Inclusion by collecting information regarding sense of belonging within our campus community and by advocating for informed and shared decision-making built around accessible, transparent, and mutually understood information.
  • We demonstrate the value of Relationships by collaborating across the college and community to provide meaningful information and partnering proactively with subject matter experts to dismantle siloes and build trust.
  • We demonstrate the value of Evidence by ensuring high standards of data quality, noting methodological limitations, and by promoting quantitative and qualitative information as a resource in decision-making.

Additionally, we commit to uphold the ethical standards and goals of the Association for Institutional Research, as published in the AIR Statement of Ethical Principles and the AIR Statement of Aspirational Practice.
