JSTOR & ArtSTOR
The library’s JSTOR subscription primarily consists of journal articles, with some eBooks. ArtSTOR is primarily images. Journal articles are in PDF format, while eBooks can be in PDF or EPUB format.
There is a small amount of content in JSTOR & ArtSTOR that is contributed to the database by institutions. These are called Shared Collections. JSTOR cannot guarantee the accessibility of these uncontrolled collections. If there is an accessibility issue reported, JSTOR support will reach out to the contributor to request that they supply remediated content to the user.

- Alternative text for images from a material’s metadata, with descriptive alt text generated on-demand

ACM Digital Library
The content in ACM Digital Library has historically been PDF files. To meet accessibility standards, ACM has started releasing HTML versions of articles. Newer content is more likely to be available in HTML content. Currently there is a mix of PDF only and PDF plus HTML content in ACM. Some legacy content remains in PDF format only and may not be fully accessible.
Accessibility Features
- New publications include accessible HTML alongside PDF files.
- Newer publications in HTML have math content in MathML, which can be read by screen readers and used in math equation editors
- eBooks published in 2025 and after are accessible
Tips for Faculty
If using ACM digital library content for a class, check to see if the content is available in HTML format. HTML format in ACM will be present the entirety of the content in the browser. If it is available in HTML, you should link directly to the article in ACM. If the content is only available in PDF, you’ll need to utilize the campus’s PDF remediation services or tool. Statista is a data aggregator. They present many statistics in the form or charts or graphs displayed through the browser. Presented reports that compile a variety of relevant statistics are available as downloadable PDF files.
