Bellevue Women Advance to NWAACC Semi-Finals

Over the past week, the Bellevue College women’s soccer team wrapped up their regular season and headed into the NWAACC playoffs.

In their regular season finale, Bellevue faced off against Highline at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila. It was a great match for the Bulldogs to gain momentum heading into the playoffs.  Jessie Oliver, Abigail Stuart, and Jamie Lindstrom scored goals for Bellevue (34’, 51’, 88’).  The team appeared very determined to play aggressively and come out with a win. In the end, the final score was 3-0 for a Bulldogs victory. Freshman goalkeeper Brianna Jackson recorded the shutout against the Thunderbirds.

Achieving a league play record of 10-1-4, Bellevue was awarded a bye during the first round of the playoffs that began November 10. They faced
Chemeketa November 13 in the second round of playoffs. Bellevue played a great game as scoring went back and forth between the two teams, especially late in the game. The Bulldogs entered the half down 1-0, but did not panic. They kept playing their style and eventually got things going.

Lindstrom scored a goal in the 46th minute to tie things up. Tina Jacobsen tacked on insurance during the 80th minute on an assist from Lindstrom. However, Chemeketa was able to respond with a goal minutes later. This led to a tie score heading to end of the game, but Bellevue was not to be denied. Lindstrom scored yet again – the game winning goal- in the 88th minute, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 victory.

With this win, the Bulldogs advance to the NWAACC Semi Finals for the first time in the team’s history, and take on 2009 defending champions Walla Walla (13-0-2) on November 20 at 1:30 PM at Starfire Complex in Tukwila.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BC WOMEN’S SOCCER ALL STARS:  Forwards Jamie Lindstrom and Jessie Oliver, Midfielders Brittney Conway and Alayna Herring, and Defenders Kayla Kasper and Keiko Stafford.
