The Bellevue College men’s basketball team lost a tough battle against first place and undefeated Skagit Valley on Wednesday January 22 in a pivotal league game, losing 80-71. Skagit Valley was red hot shooting from the perimeter, scoring 27 points on 46% shooting from three-point range. Bellevue fell behind early, down by nine at half and could not recover. Austin O’Keefe continued his dominating presence in the league with 28 points.

The Bulldogs then traveled to Peninsula on Saturday January 25 to round out the first half of league play. At a location that is always tough to win at, the Bulldogs came up big with a 76-66 win. Jalen Ward had 19 points while Anthony McLaughlin and O’Keefe had 16 apiece. McLaughlin also had 10 rebounds.

The split puts Bellevue at 5-2 in league play, and good enough for third place in the competitive North Region as they enter the second half of league play. After a bye this Wednesday, Bellevue will host Olympic at 6PM on Saturday February 1.
