Bellevue College women’s basketball defense pressured visiting Edmonds into 28 turnovers tonight as the Bulldogs defense stymied the Tritons’ offense in a 59-35 win at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.  While clamping down for 28 turnovers, Bellevue only committed 11 of their own.

Shelby Kassuba led BC with 15 points and 13 rebounds. She was 6-for-11 from the field on a night her teammates struggled to find a hot hand. Although the win was a comfortable one for the Bulldogs, both Edmonds and Bellevue shot only 30% from the field. Bellevue capitalized with several put back shots offensively with 21 offensive rebounds.

The Bulldogs were able to spread out playing time even though they never generated any offensive rhythm as their defense shut down Edmonds to only 6 points in the first quarter, racing out to a 23-6 lead.

Bellevue (10-1 league, 20-4 overall) travels to Peninsula this Saturday February 20 for a 4:00 p.m. showdown for first place. Both teams are tied with one loss apiece with Bellevue winning the initial battle on their home court. The game on the road will pose a tougher challenge as the race for the North Region heats up entering the final weeks of league play.
