Softball Takes Three of Four

Bellevue College softball got back on the winning track by sweeping Everett on Friday April 28 by scores of 19-0 and 6-2 before traveling to Highline on Saturday April 29 and splitting by scores of 9-0 and 5-4.

On Friday, Bellevue hosted Everett at Robinswood Park and won easily in game one before getting a challenge in the nightcap. No details were reported at publishing time on Sunday night.

In the Saturday split, BC’s 9-0 win was blown open in the fourth inning as the ‘dogs put up 5 runs with Bri Attwood and Payton Gibbs leading the way. Attwood went 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and had 2 doubles and recorded here 26th RBI. Gibbs went 3-for-3 and clubbed her 15th home run of the year and her 54th RBI. She was also the dominant force in the circle tossing a 5-hit shutout while recording 7 strikeouts. In game two, Bellevue spotted Highline with a 5-2 lead and could not recover. Gibbs, who relieved Kimber Tutt in the second inning, grew tired in game two, allowing 3 runs and 5 hits in her relief work. Cierra Barkis and Jolene House each had 3 hits.

The Bulldogs now sit in third place at 17-11 in league and 27-13 overall. They will travel to Mount Vernon on May 5 for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader for their next games.
