Bulldogs Win 3rd Straight Regional Title

With a 15-1 record in the Northern Region, the Bellevue CC Men’s Basketball team achieved a three-peat, taking home the Regional Championship for the third consecutive season. Bellevue’s lone loss during league play was a narrow 62-58 defeat at the hands of a Skagit Valley team that was battling for (and eventually won) the Northern Region’s final playoff spot. That particular loss snapped a 17 game winning streak, the longest such streak under fourth year Head Coach Jeremy Eggers.

Several of BCC’s players were honored as All-League performers by the Northern Region coaches. David Grant, a 6-6 sophomore post player from Roosevelt High School in Seattle, was named to the All-Region First Team, as was teammate Steve Wiseley (Fr, Lake Washington HS). Grant led the Bulldogs in scoring (12.1ppg) and rebounding (6.1rpg), while shooting 51% from the floor. Wiseley was second in scoring (11.8ppg) while shooting 39.6% from the three point line. Sophomore forward Jordan Ard (Prairie HS) was also named to the All Region Second team, averaging 10.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while leading BCC in blocked shots with 21.

Coach Eggers was also honored as the Northern Region Coach of the Year, his second such award in three years. He received the honor in 2005 as well after leading the Bulldogs to the region title in just his second year. After finishing one game short of the NWAACC tournament in his first year, Eggers’ teams have been a dominant power in the Northern Region. Since taking over the program in 2003, Eggers has an 84-38 overall record as head coach. In the last three seasons, the Bulldogs are an amazing 75-20, including a 41-7 mark in Northern Region play.
