Hall of Famer, World Series Champion, and Olympic Gold Medalist Coach to speak at pre-season dinner January 23
Baseball Hall of Fame member Tommy Lasorda will be the keynote speaker at Bellevue College Baseball’s Pre-Season Dinner on Friday January 23, 2009. The event will be held on campus in the Student Union C building. A buffet dinner will be served before an evening of insight, humor, and commentary from baseball’s ambassador. Baseball memorabilia and team apparel will also be on sale at the event.
Entering his 59th year with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, Lasorda, who is now the Special Advisor to the Chairman, led the Dodgers to two world series titles, four National League pennants, and eight division titles. He also was the coach for the U.S. team in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney that captured the gold; an accomplishment which he considers his greatest. Lasorda was named the official ambassador for the World Baseball Classic in 2006.
