Bulldogs Baseball Split Series With Douglas College; Rivalry Series Begins This Weekend Against Everett

Bellevue College’s baseball team snuck out of Canada with a series split on Sunday April 18. After dropping a pitchers’ duel in game one 1-0, the Bulldogs rallied for 2 runs in the top of the ninth to win game two 4-2. Defensive miscues gave victories for both teams as Kyle Swannack’s throwing error on a pickoff attempt at first base paved the way for Douglas’ only run of the game. In the nightcap, Bellevue took advantage of an error to put leadoff hitter Nick Smith aboard who later scored to give Bellevue the win. Blake Fulghum pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win after a stellar performance by starting pitcher Jake Collier. Fulghum is now 5-0 coming out of the bullpen for Bellevue.

On Saturday April 17, Bellevue hosted Douglas and cruised to an 8-0 win in game one before dropping the nightcap 9-1. Ian McKay had three hits and hit his first home run of the year in game one. In game two, Cory Urquhart had an RBI single for the lone Bulldog run. Urquhart now has 32 RBI’s on the year.
