Bellevue Softball Wins Four Over the Weekend

The Bellevue Softball team swept doubleheaders against Olympic and Peninsula this past weekend.

On Fri., May 8, the Bulldogs avenged two prior losses to Olympic by beating them 6-2 and 7-4. In game one, the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead scoring five runs in the third inning and adding another in the sixth. The Bulldog offense pounded ten hits for the game. Bulldog freshman pitcher Ashleigh Carter kept the Olympic bats at bay, giving up just two runs on four hits. In game two, the bats stayed hot as the Bulldogs scored seven runs on 11 hits, including home runs by Nicole Rogers and Megan Zender. Breonna Chrisman threw a complete game getting the win.

Saturday proved to be another strong day offensively for the Bulldogs as they beat Peninsula 11-2 and 12-1. The offense pounded out 20 hits during the two games, including home runs by Megan McLachlan, Lindsay Sullivan and two by Tobey Varney. Carter picked up the win in game one, while Chrisman took the win in game two.

The Bulldogs, now 17-5 league and 29-10 overall, are currently in second place in the North Region, and have officially clinched a spot in the NWAACC Softball Championship Tournament the weekend of May 21-24. Bellevue will finish the regular season against Skagit Valley Sat., May 15, in a doubleheader played at the University of Washington Softball Field. First pitch scheduled for noon.
