Bellevue College baseball won two non-league games Wednesday May 4 in Centralia, winning 16-6 over Clark College before taking the nightcap 20-2 over host Centralia. Bellevue spotted Clark a 5-1 lead in the first inning. Traveling in two separate groups due to class conflicts, the Bulldogs were forced to play with three pitchers in the batting lineup for the first two innings. Immediately after arriving to the game late, the substitutes entered and produced four runs on two home runs (Tyler Baumgartner, Jerad Casper) and a double (Kyle Johnson) to tie the game at 5-5. Bellevue then tacked on 11 more runs and were led by Tyler Cox, who also arrived late and hit the first pitch he saw for a solo shot in the fourth. Cox also had a single and a grand slam home run to dead center field in the 8th. Left-handers Casey Bohlmann and Tyler Manke threw five shutout innings to preserve the win. In game two, Casper continued his hitting spree with two singles, a double, and a second home run on the night and was assisted by catcher Emmett Niland’s two doubles and three hits by Marc Dickerson, who was 7-for-8 on the day. After giving up a solo home run, Michael Curtis earned the win and was supported by relief efforts by Jonanthan Humphrie, Frank Tassara, Andrew Groves, and Scott Kuzminsky.
