Bulldogs Baseball Second at North Region Tourney; Will Face Mount Hood CC in NWAACC Championships

Bellevue College baseball finished second at this weekend’s North Region Tourney. Bellevue defeated Skagit Valley 11-1 in the opener on Friday May 20. Kyle Conwell hit two home runs while Jerad Casper added a third for the game. On day two of the tourney Saturday May 21, Bellevue defeated arch-rival Edmonds in a comeback win 4-2. Kyle Swannack, who was recently named MVP for the North Region, combined with Andrew Groves to shut down Edmonds after Casper’s bases-loaded triple helped seal the win. On Sunday May 22, with a guaranteed berth already secured for both teams, Everett defeated Bellevue twice by scores of 9-5 and 6-1. With the wins, Everett enters the NWAACC Championships as the number one seed while Bellevue enters as the number two seed. In game one Bellevue jumped out 2-0 on a triple by Conwell, then surrendered the lead, then tied it back up at 5-5 heading into the ninth inning. The Bulldogs yielded 4 runs on 5 hits in the final inning to lose 9-5. In game two, Matt Cooper threw 5 2/3 innings and kept Bellevue close departing with a 3-1 deficit. Bellevue could not get the offense going and eventually fell 6-1. Bellevue opens up the NWAACC Championships this Thursday May 26 vs. Mt. Hood CC (OR) at 4:35 PM. The tournament will be held at Lower Columbia College in Longview, WA.
