BC Women’s Basketball Takes Fifth at Bellevue Crossover

The  Bulldogs women’s basketball team hosted the Bellevue Crossover Tourney this past weekend of December 20-22, taking fifth place. After a convincing win on Friday December 20 over Portland by a score of 73-35, Bellevue lost their next two games. Taylor Flemming was named to the All-Tournament Team for Bellevue. She scored in double figures all three games and had the buried six three-pointers in a 20 point effort on Sunday against Lane.

In the Friday win over Portland, the Bulldogs opened up the game in the second half, outscoring their opponents 44-13. The balanced        scoring attack was led by Airashay Rogers (17 points), Eboney Jackson (16), Kaitlynn Bunger (12) and Flemming (10). On Saturday December 21, after being down by nearly 20 points at halftime, almost rallied back but came up short in a 72-69 loss to Big Bend. Rogers led the team with 23 points and also dished out a team-high 6 assists and collected 11 rebounds in the stellar effort. On Sunday, Hunter Hopkins scored a season-high 21 points to complement Flemming’s 20 in the 85-71 loss to Lane (defending NWAACC Champions and current third-ranked team in NWAACC). The Bulldogs are now 4-6 on the season and will take a well-needed rest during the Christmas holiday. Up next for the Bulldogs is the Skagit Tourney Friday December 28-30. The Bulldogs’ opening game is 1:00 on Friday against Douglas College of Canada.
