Bellevue College Softball finished 1-2 at the NWAACC Championships this past weekend in Portland, OR. The Bulldogs lost their opener 7-4 to Spokane before coming back to defeat Grays Harbor in the loser’s bracket by a score of 9-3. With the score tied at 3-3, Bellevue put up six runs late in the game to seal the win. Consecutive hits at the top of the order by Taylor Pottschmidt, Halee Ross, Taylor Turner and Brielle Bray led to a two-RBI single by Heather Benjamin and a home run by Hannah Sauget which blew the game open. The following day, Saturday May 17, Bellevue lost to Treasure Valley by a score of 12-3. Bellevue used all three pitchers, but none could shut down Treasure Valley’s offense. Down  12-0 in the fifth inning, Bellevue managed to score three runs thanks to a two-run home run by Lauren Burchak, who was named an All-American earlier in the week. Halee Ross, who had a stellar tournament, went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Bellevue’s offense. The Bulldogs ended their season at 28-15.
