Women’s Soccer Lose Close Battle With Peninsula before Blowout Win Over Lower Columbia

Bellevue College’s women’s soccer team lost a close one to West Region leader Peninsula 1-0 on Friday October 3rd. Peninsula entered the game as the top-ranked team in the NWAC and have won the last two conference championships.  Bellevue’s stellar defense was on again, keeping the game scoreless entering halftime. The Pirates netted a goal 5 minutes into the second half and shutout Bellevue to run their conference-leading shutout total to 12 on the year.  The Bulldogs’ offense picked up the following day with a convincing 7-0 win at Lower Columbia on Saturday October 4. Sam Mellick struck early, scoring 12 minutes into the game on a feed by Katie Newell. Bellevue would tack on two more goals in the first half followed by another four in the second half as Melody Blake and Suri Johnson each had two goals. Newell had three assists on the day.  Bellevue faces off with West Region rival Highline College this Saturday October 11 at Starfire Complex in Tukwila for a 12PM start.
