BC Volleyball Defeats Everett in Three; Takes Fourth at BC Crossover

but the Bulldogs were able to hold them off for the win in game one 25-17. The Bulldogs played tough to win the second game 25-21 but the Trojans did not stop fighting make game three a tough win for the Bulldogs taking it 26-24. Sophomore setter Dani Smullin had three aces for the Bulldogs with one kill, 1.5 blocks and 39 assists. Outside hitters Loretta Forrest and Kayley Watkins led the Bulldogs with 13 kills followed by middle blocker Kelcie Russell with nine. With seven blocks as a team the Bulldogs were able to slow down the Trojans offense and serve receive passing at 2.39 the Bulldogs were able to spread their offense around.

“I was proud of the control our defense kept of the game in serve receive and digs to keep our offense flowing. We strive for perfect passes in practice and it is beginning to show in our games,” says Coach Lawrence.
The Bellevue Bulldogs in a tough tournament took fourth going 2-2 on the weekend at the BC Crossover. The Bulldogs began the tournament facing Chemeketa. With a slow start the Bulldogs began the match down 2-0 but fought back to win the third game. In a tough fought battle in game four the Bulldogs couldn’t hold on dropping the match in four 21-25, 18-25, 25-15 and 26-28. Outside hitter Kayley Watkins led the Bulldogs with 15 kills followed by middle blocker Kelcie Russell with seven. Setter Dani Smullin had 34 assists. “This match was a frustrating loss. We did not play to our ability until the very end and against the top teams that is a to little to late,” Coach Lawrence said.

With one loss the Bulldogs were sent into the losers bracket to fight their way back in. In game one of the losers bracket the Bulldogs faced Columbia Basin. With some frustration from the first match the Bulldogs came out fighting winning game one 25-10. The Bulldogs continue to improve and play to their standards winning game two 25-16. Spreading out the offense allowed the Bulldogs to execute throughout the entire match with outside hitter Loretta Forrest with eight, Russell and right side hitter Makenna Martyn with six, Watkins with five and middle blocker Emily Ball with four. “Attacking from every angle allowed us to keep control of the match the entire time. We have the ability to play like this every match and I am proud of the girls for coming back with some attack after a tough loss that morning,” says Coach Lawrence.
