Sophomore forward Sam Mellick had a day scoring the game’s first goal right out of the chute and tacked on two more as Bellevue College women’s soccer defeated visiting Lower Columbia 8-0 yesterday at Starfire Complex in Tukwila. Freshman Winter Wirkkala, who got the assist on Mellick’s second goal, had two assists and also scored two goals herself to lead Bellevue. The Bulldogs finish league play with a 7-5-6 record. They are currently in third place; good enough for the final playoff entry to the NWAC tournament. Bellevue will clinch the final spot pending the outcomes of Tacoma CC’s next two contests this week. Tacoma must win both games to knock Bellevue out of third place.
