Former Bellevue College Cross Country Coach Inducted into Hall of Fame

Stella Orechia, a former cross country coach and women’s athletic commissioner at Bellevue College, is among 17 individuals who will be inducted into the College of San Mateo Hall of Fame on Friday January 23, 2015. Stella (formerly known as Edwinson) still holds the records for the 100 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles at San Mateo. She was a California state champion in the hurdles and was an All-American in indoor track in the 400 meter hurdles at Brigham Young University. Stella would then go on to qualify for the 1984 Olympic Trials. The impressive list of inductees that will share the honors with Orechia includes two current major league baseball players, two former major league players, a former NFL and NBA player, and two coaches in the NFL.
