In a marathon weekend, Bellevue College’s softball team played six games in three days at the Inter-Region Tourney at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey, winning five of six. On Friday March 6, BC thumped South Puget Sound 20-0 and Highline 15-2. Both games were called after five innings of play due to the run limit rule. Heather Benjamin and Cassidy Mast each had four RBI’s apiece to lead BC while freshman pitcher Tessani Dixon fanned nine in the complete game win. The Bulldogs put the game away in the first inning, scoring 11 runs in the first; essentially putting the game away within the first 30 minutes of play.  In the nightcap win over Highline, the bats took a little longer to seal the win, but eventually did so with seven runs in the third and another six in the fifth as Dixon, the pitcher in game one, let her bat do the contributions in game two with three RBI’s. Ali Roselli came off the bench to add three RBI’s as well. On Saturday March 7, Bellevue was challenged as Lower Columbia jumped out to a 4-0 lead against Bellevue’s ace sophomore Brooke Bonsen. The Bulldogs rallied back for a 10-7 win. Bellevue plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the win. BC’s top of the order, Emma Bedsworth, Erin Scott, Rachel Delamare, and Benjamin all had two RBI’s. In game two, the Bulldogs won 7-4 over Chemeketa. Two freshman pitchers, Dixon and Ciera Lockwood held down Chemeketa’s bats, limiting them to only four runs as Roselli came up big again with one swing, as she did on Friday, as she hit a three-run home run to propel the win. The homer was Roselli’s third of the season. On Sunday March 8, Dixon dominated on both sides as she tossed a complete game win on the mound, and also had six RBI’s as did freshman Tinerra Adams as BC won 24-5. Dixon and Adams had three hits apiece as did shortstop Erin Scott as BC pounded out 20 hits. All Bulldog players had at least one hit in the game. Earlier in the day, Bellevue lost to SW Oregon. No details were provided. Bellevue runs their record to 7-2 and has their home opener this Saturday March 14 against Centralia. First pitch is at 1PM.
