Bellevue College’s men’s golf team opened up the spring season finishing second at the Olympic Invitational held at the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain in Gorst, WA.  The Bulldogs shot a team total of 607, eight strokes behind the champion, Olympic College, who shot a team total of 599.

Chad Hall, Bellevue’s number one golfer, was under par after day one firing a 71 and shot 78 on day two to finish fifth overall in the individual standings. Taylor Smith shot 79-72 to tie for tenth overall with BC teammate Jack Strickland who shot 73-78. Elias Tunison and Brady Campbell both shot 79-78 to finish tied for 26th while Max Tuckner shot 83-77 to finish 42nd. Taylor Bolm who competed as an individual (not part of Bellevue’s top six for team scoring purposes) and shot 80-78.

Hall, who had chances for the individual title, was two over at the turn on the final day, but let it slip away by going four over par in the first four holes on the back nine. Collectively as a team, the Bulldogs, who were within reach of the team title, could not flip the momentum on the back nine. As a team, Bellevue shot nine over on the front but ballooned to 20 over on the back, which ultimately cost them the team title.

Bellevue plays next at the opening league match at Avondale GC hosted by North Idaho College on April 19-20.
