Bellevue College softball came up big by sweeping Everett at home yesterday by scores of 10-2 and 16-15. The wins not only put Bellevue in position to take the league title this weekend, but also got revenge for an earlier sweep by Everett earlier in the year.

In game one, Bellevue’s Brooke Bonsen tossed one of her best games ever by yielding only one earned run and striking out eight in the complete game win. After the game remained close with Bellevue up 3-2, the Bulldogs put it away in bottom of the fifth with seven runs to end the game early due to the run-limit rule. Nikki Tiffany continued her hot hitting from the weekend with a 3-for-3 game. Ali Roselli had three RBI’s and Erin Scott had two hits. Both Roselli and Scott went deep for BC hitting home runs. Roselli’s blast was a three-run homer in the final inning which ended it early.

In game two, an offensive spree by both teams resulted in an exciting, but marathon game that lasted two hours and thirty minutes. The wild game had BC jumping ahead early 7-2, only to lose the lead by giving up eight runs in the third inning. Bellevue would answer back in the middle innings with nine more runs before giving up two runs to Everett in the fifth, sixth, and final inning. The six runs late in the game had Everett in position to win. After already scoring two runs, Everett had runners at second and third with two outs, but a groundout to Bulldog shortstop Erin Scott ended the game.

BC is now 13-3 in league and 24-10 overall. Their next games are big ones as well; on the road at first place Douglas tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Douglas is currently at 14-2 in league play. The Bulldogs must sweep in order to take over the outright lead in the division race.
