Bellevue College softball scored 29 runs in two games as they swept visiting Shoreline by scores of 14-4 and 15-12 on Saturday May 9. The games were the home finale for the Bulldogs, who will play in the NWAC Championships this weekend.

In game one, the game remained competitive until the sixth inning, when Bellevue put up six runs to end the game due to the run limit rule. Pitcher Brooke Bonsen did the damage on both ends, as she pitched a complete game and hit her first home run of the year on the offensive side, leading the Bulldogs offensively with three RBI’s. Her three-run shot scored Cassidy Mast and Heather Benjamin to end the game. In the circle, Bonsen allowed only one earned run in the complete game pitching effort, walking only one while striking out six.

In game two, it was a slugfest between both teams as the clubs combined for thirty hits. Bellevue jumped out with a 9-2 lead after only two innings. Shoreline would then stay close, scoring ten runs in the next three innings. Sophomore Erin Scott went out with a bang in her final home game, going 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI’s. Rachel Delamare went 4-for-5 with two RBI’s. Both RBI’s came in the big six-run second inning for Bellevue. Benjamin, Mast, and Taylor Turner each had two hits as well.

Bellevue ends regular season play at 19-5 in league and 30-12 overall. They open up play this weekend at the NWAC Championships in Portland.
