Bellevue Men’s Golf Team Makes Debut at NCAA DII Tourney

Bellevue College’s men’s golf team made their 2015-16 season debut playing against tough competition as the Bulldogs competed in the Saint Martin’s Invitational held at Olympia Country and Golf Club on September 18-19.  Four freshmen playing in their first college event competing against older players held their own after a nervous first round. Brady Campbell, the lone sophomore in the squad, led the team after a solid 75,69 on day one. Unfortunately, Campbell played from out of bounds unknowingly and after holing out with that ball was informed of a breach of rules and was disqualified. Freshman Eddie Abellar led BC with rounds of 74-75-76. Brett Ball shot 77-77-76. Isaac Hall rebounded after a rough 88 on his opening round with scores of 78-74. Dexter Simonds also improved as the rounds went on by firing 86-78-76. Bellevue finished 12th overall in the team standings. Coach Bryan Stevens added, “There were a lot of positives that came out of this event. They got the nerves out and realized they can compete at a high level. The biggest difference was eliminating mistakes as several players were at the top of the field in birdies made. We just had too many costly errors that added up.”
