Bellevue College baseball has announced their 2016 schedule for the spring season. The Bulldogs will play a scrimmage (non-official) on Saturday February 27 at Yakima Valley. The pre-season scrimmage is a first for Bellevue, as league rules permit four scrimmage dates that can be split in between the fall and spring seasons prior to the first official game. The Bulldogs’ official opener will be the following weekend with a four-game series with West Region rival, Pierce College, coached by former BC alum, Kevin Davis.  Bellevue will get a test of endurance with a triple-header at Treasure Valley in mid-March. The triple header will then be followed the next morning with a doubleheader. The Ontario, Oregon trip, an 8-hour trek from Bellevue, will give the team 41 innings of baseball in a span of 27 hours before heading home. “The games are condensed due to the extended travel time and cost of the trip. After the conclusion of our fall season last night, our depth both offensively and on the mound is probably our greatest asset. With depth up and down the roster, playing a lot of baseball in a short amount of time isn’t even a concern. In fact, we’re looking forward to it since it will be a great test of how deep we really are,” says Coach Mark Yoshino.  Bellevue will also play a non-league set with Clark College. The last time Bellevue and Clark battled was at the 2014 NWAC Championships, as Bellevue defeated Clark ace Travis Eckert, now one of the top pitchers at Oregon State University.  The Bulldogs will then close out pre-season play in the annual Tacoma-Pierce Invite which has been moved up a day to a Friday-Saturday schedule in order to accommodate Easter Sunday.

Bellevue opens up league play with Olympic College, who will be returning to their former home park, Legion Field in 2016. Bellevue will also have a unique challenge, facing off against perennial rivals Everett and Edmonds on consecutive weekends. The Bulldogs close out regular season play at home on Sunday May 15 against Skagit Valley. The entire schedule can be found here.
