Bellevue College Baseball, armed with 15 returning veteran sophomores this spring, had four sign early letters of intent to NCAA Division I schools this week during the NCAA early signing period. The four add on to a continuing trend, as Bellevue has had 36 players receive NCAA Division I scholarships in the last five years.

Dylan Vchulek (Bainbridge HS), who won the NWAC batting title last spring, signed with the University of Hawaii; a member of the Big West Conference which is one of the strongest baseball conferences in the country. Cody Anderson (Marysville-Pilchuck HS) signed with Washington State University. The 6-6 left-hander is Bellevue’s lone returning starter in the pitching rotation.  Zach Usselman (Mount Si HS) signed with ACC member North Carolina State University. Usselman is a catcher-pitcher who will perform both duties at Bellevue and at North Carolina State. Incoming transfer Travis Ulvestad (Eastside Catholic HS) signed with Seattle University. The Redhawks are coming off a 30-plus win season last year and was one game shy of making an NCAA regional appearance.

“These four are just a portion of the talent-rich sophomore class we have this year. We anticipate several more receiving offers during the spring signing period to continue the trend of what has been established here with Bellevue College Baseball,” says Head Coach Mark Yoshino.
