In a game that was for the most part played evenly throughout the entire night, the host Bellevue Bulldogs could not generate enough of a momentum swing as the squad fell to Peninsula 82-72. The two teams were relatively even across the board statistically with Peninsula jumping out ahead maintaining a 4-8 point margin early in the game and keeping the ‘dogs at that distance the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs’ depth again was evident as four players scored in double figures, with the big men down under keeping the team in the game for most of the night. The team was led by 6-9 freshman Calvin Dennis who dumped in 15 points and had 6 rebounds. Dennis was 6-of-9 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Quentin Moore added 13 while David Babayan came off the bench to add 12 points. Jack Walton, Bellevue’s other big man down under along with Dennis, added 10 points and led BC with 8 rebounds. The inside presence was utilized by the ‘dogs to stay in the game, as the Bulldogs’ outside threat backcourt tandem of Jordan Muir-Kueng and Yonathan Michael had off nights going a combined 4-for-21 from the field.

Bellevue falls to 0-5 (league) and 9-11 (overall). Bellevue travels to Whatcom this Wednesday January 27 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. Whatcom, after starting the season ranked in the top eight in the NWAC, is similar to Bellevue as both teams have had no luck pulling out wins in league play after establishing themselves in pre-season as a team to be reckoned with. The Orcas are 1-4 in league and are attempting to regain their pre-season form.
