Bellevue College softball swept a non-league doubleheader on Tuesday March 8 over a four-year university, defeating the University of Puget Sound by scores of 10-2 and 9-1. In game one, Payton Gibbs went the distance on the mound yielding only 4 hits in the win. Alex Boyd clubbed a two-run home run as several Bulldogs contributed to the offensive spree. Cierra Barkis, Rachel Delamare, Cassidy Mast, and Gibbs all had two hits to lead the ‘dogs offense. BC blew it open in the middle innings, plating six runs in the third and fourth innings combined for the easy win. In game two, BC again plated six runs in a two-inning time frame but this time did it out of the gate, jumping ahead 6-0 after two innings. Pitcher Rayne Sylvester cruised in the circle tossing a two-hitter in a game that was called after five innings due to the run mercy rule. Tessani Dixon had 3 RBI’s while Katy Sinn had a home run to lead BC’s offense. Delamare and Barkis continued their hot hitting they have had in the pre-season with two hits as did Brianna Attwood.

The Bulldogs have a difficult weekend ahead of them, facing some of their rival top teams in the NWAC at the upcoming Intra-Regional Tourney at Delta Park. The tourney will have the feel of a pre-season NWAC Championship, as the tourney is held at the same venue as the conference-ending tourney, as BC will face off against several top teams such as SW Oregon, Mount Hood, and Clackamas.
