Top-ranked Bellevue College baseball struggled this weekend, splitting a four-game non-league set over this past weekend. The Bulldogs swept Corban College (OR) on Friday April 15 by scores of 5-1 and 10-5. The doubleheader was played at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer, OR which is the home field for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the professional Northwest League. Dylan Vchulek, Oscar White, and Eli Gallo had nine of the team’s hits as each had three apiece.  In the nightcap, Bellevue put up six runs in the late innings as Gallo again had three hits as did Danny Torlai. Austin Pinorini had two doubles as well.

On Saturday April 16, Bellevue was swept by SW Oregon CC as the offense fell silent for both games losing 5-1 and 4-2. Cody Anderson struck out 12 but gave up big hits in two key innings as SW Oregon plated a three-run first inning rally and tacked on two more late in the game to seal the win. Vchulek, a regular starter, was inserted late and went 2-for-2. In the nightcap, SW Oregon put up four quick runs in the first two innings as Bellevue’s offense could not respond in the 4-2 loss.

Bellevue travels to Forest Grove, OR tonight for a 6:00 p.m. (pushed back from original 5:00 p.m. start) to take on Pacific University JV for a single 9-inning contest.
