Bellevue’s Kendra Meeker Claims NWAC Individual Title; Team Takes Second

May16-Golf-W-Medalist[1]Although Bellevue College women’s golf team surrendered a one-day lead at the NWAC Championships yesterday, sophomore Kendra Meeker turned in two electric performances on the golf course to claim the individual medalist title for Bellevue. Meeker birdied the final hole in regulation play then defeated North Idaho’s Nicole Miller on the first playoff hole for the title. Meeker carded rounds of 75-77 for the victory.

The team had a seven-stroke lead after day one, Sunday May 15 at Veteran’s Memorial GC in Walla Walla. On day two, the squad got off to a rough start as the three BC golfers Meeker, Sadie Tallman, and Meg McMullen, were 14-over par after the first four holes, recording only one par amongst the entire group. The squad went from front runners to playing in catch up mode for the rest of the round, and could not catch North Idaho. Tallman and McMullen both carded 83’s on day two at Walla Walla Country Club. Tallman shot a day one 76 to finish fifth overall. McMullen finished ninth overall shooting 83 on both days.
