Men’s Golf Debuts at NCAA Division II Tourney in Olympia

Bellevue College men’s golf started their fall season this past weekend at the Saint Martin’s Invite held Friday September 23-Saturday September 24 at Olympia Country and Golf Club. Bellevue finished twelfth out of 18 teams. All but Bellevue and Grays Harbor College (17th place) were four-year schools.

The Bulldogs’ finish was ahead of NCAA division II schools Montana State-Billings, Hawaii Pacific, Northwest Nazarene, and NCAA division III University of Puget Sound. Bellevue had a ten stroke improvement on day two.

Solid second round play was turned in by sophomores Isaac Hall (tied for 36th with rounds of 79 and 73) and Dexter Simonds (tied for 50th with rounds of 80 and 74). New player Will Mansfield (75-77) (Mercer Island HS / transfer from Occidental College) played very consistent despite battling a cold.

“It was a good event to get the jitters out early for the talented freshmen,” said Head Coach Bryan Stevens. Complete results are here.

The Bulldogs’ next match is the Grays Harbor League Match on October 2-3 at Highlands Golf Club in Cosmopolis, WA.
