BC’s Dyer Named NWAC Volleyball Player of the Week

Bellevue College’s Averi Dyer, a freshman outside hitter, recently was named NWAC Volleyball Player of the Week.

Averi Dyer In 14 sets last week, Dyer had 67 digs (4.79 dps), three blocks, 3 aces and a 2.47 serve receive average to earn the award for Week 8, announced on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

“Averi had an outstanding week in serve receive,” BC head coach Jocelyn Lawerence said in the NWAC release. “In one of the matches in the crossover she passed a 3.0. She is extremely effective on the back row and can read an offense well. Her defense and serve receive allowed us to run the ball the way we want to.”

Dyer also was named NWAC North Region defensive player of the week, while sophomore Kendle Valade-Nunez and freshman Marriah McEachern were named North Region setters of the week.

The Bulldogs, who were ranked third in the latest NWAC Under Armour Volleyball Coaches Poll, released on Oct. 13, suffered their first conference defeat of the season on Friday, Oct. 21, losing 3-1 to Shoreline.

BC returns to action Monday, Oct. 24 with a home match against Edmonds at 7 p.m. at the Courter Family Athletic Pavilion
