The new look Bellevue College men’s basketball team appears to be legitimate after earning two big wins on the road against South Region powers Chemeketa and Umpqua over the weekend in a round-robin game series hosted by Lower Columbia College December 3-4. Bellevue won on Saturday December 3 over Chemeketa 86-79. The sophomore outside-inside threat of Jordan Muir-Keung and Jack Walton did most of the damage as they did last weekend in Bellevue’s opening weekend. Muir-Keung scored 21 points and had 8 rebounds while Walton, down under, scored 16 and had 10 rebounds. Bellevue had the hot hand consistently in the game shooting 56% from the field in the first half. Chemeketa could not generate the hot hand, going for the three pointers all day long, but sinking only 31% shooting 11-for-35. The Bulldogs only attempted 16 three-pointers, making the same percentage.

On Sunday December 4, BC battled Umpqua and won 75-69. Contrary to Saturday, Bellevue attack changed as they threw up 26 three-pointers, making 43% as freshman Taylor Freeman led the ‘dogs with 24 points. He also led BC with 4 steals and was 4-of-6 from three-point territory. The outside threat of Freeman, Muir-Keung, and David Babayan (both 3-for6) was evident as Bellevue outscored Umpquah 33-12 from three-point range. Max Tilden led Bellevue in rebounds with 10, including 8 offensively.

Bellevue takes this week off for academic finals and will play again on Friday December 9 in the Bulldog Classic as they host Portland at 7:00 p.m.
